Young Geo-Professionals

As part of the LaRGE2026 workshop programme we have prepared an exciting line up of Young Geo-Professionals (YGPs) and early career researcher events. Please find information about these events, as well as information about possible financial assistance to attend the event, outlined below.

Important note: Please note that while these events are intended to support YGPs and early career researchers, they are open to all attendees and we encourage everyone that is interested to attend.

Panel discussion on career paths, followed by networking

We recognise that there are many different career paths that one could choose in our industry. As such, we are organising a panel discussion on career paths as part of this workshop. The panel discussion will showcase a range of diverse perspectives, highlight the different potential career paths in our industry, and offer attendees the opportunity to ask our 5 panellists about their careers and experiences.  If you have any questions that you would like to ask the panel, please email those to Christoph Kraus at ygp@nzgs.org.

The panel discussion will take place on the afternoon of Friday 1 May, and will be followed by networking and refreshments at the venue afterwards.

Support to attend

If you need financial support to attend, we have listed potential options for you on the Support to Attend page.

Pre-conference networking hike

We are hosting an informal networking event at the start of the week, so you can make new connections and re-connect with friends before the start of the conference. The event will be a hike up Queenstown Hill, allowing you to explore some of the stunning scenery around Queenstown while meeting other delegates attending the conference. The walk will also include a brief talk about Queenstown's geology and geomorphology at the summit.

Please note that the event is open to all delegates, and everyone is welcome to attend (whether young professional or not).

If you are interested in attending the walk, or have any questions, please contact Christoph Kraus at ygp@nzgs.org.
